Android players will need to go and read another post because unfortunately, until EA adds Origin to your game, you’re missing out on its social element. And the social element is an aspect confuses many people – it turns out that there’s a bit more to it than simply tapping on friends’ buildings and collecting money and XP, vandalizing their towns, and helping them clean up graffiti. It seems that whatever you do in your friends’ towns has an impact on you and on them.
Let’s talk about vandalizing and cleaning up first, because it’s the easy part. Vandalizing a building hurts your friend’s righteousness rating – and it also hurts yours. In the same way, cleaning up the graffiti helps the righteousness rating of both you and your friend. (Although there seems to be a little glitch in the way things are meant to be at the moment!)
But which buildings you should tap on is a different issue, and one that I hadn’t really given much thought to when I initially joined the game. It turns out that if you really want to help your friends, you should tap on the most expensive buildings available. If there is anything to collect, then it’s because your friend hasn’t collected yet. The simple act of tapping means that the clock starts running again on the rent/earning cycle of those buildings. So, if you usually tap on the Simpsons’ House or the Brown Houses, you’re not really helping your friends as much as you can. You should only really tap on these buildings if you have no other choice.
And if you see any dead crops, tapping on these should bring them to life again in your friend’s town. Not only that, you also get to collect cash and XP as a reward for doing so (although no more than you usually do!).
The moral then is think before you tap – although if you have 100 freinds and only a little time, sometimes that’s hard to do.

Is there a way to control where your friends enter your Springfield? For example can I make it so they arrive near a building with a spray can or one of the more expensive buildings rather than near one of the brown or blue houses?
No – I wish there was. You may want to check, but I think they arrive in the geographical center of your town.
A bit of info and a question.
1. I noticed something interesting – usually when you click on buildings in another Springfield, on the third click, all the other possibles disappear instantly. Same if you click on the paint can, although if you click off the game or back to the friends list before the graffiti appears, it usually doesn’t register. However, if you click on a mop, the other icons don’t disappear immediately, and if there are several mops, you can end up clicking on more than the usual three rewards. I am not organised enough to be able to say with certainty that the cash goes into the total, but it looks like it does. Experimenting once or twice, I have had 4-5 rewards from one Springfield when several buildings with graffiti (there are 4 that I’m aware of) were close together.
2. Does anyone know how the money given in other Springfields is given out? I know in the past I’ve had up to $25 per building from some towns, these days it’s been about $16. It’s also become much more consistent, I used to get wildly differing amounts from different towns, but lately they’ve all given the same. It’s not a big issue, I’m just curious if anyone actually knows?
Hah, I just found the answer to my question, and the fact that others had noticed the weird mop thing. I was wondering if it was my imagination, but I guess not!
That’s great Sarah – there’s lots of information in the posts and comments here – glad you found your answer!
it’s much easier to collect four spraying cans if the buildings are near(that is why my buildings are near in my Springfield, i also kow which of my friends have buildings gathered together) , if your neighbour has mops , you can also tapped one or two other buildings.
If you are not fast enough the game might crash, but it is fun when you have time to hunt for them.
I always tap on the expensive , premium buildings if i don’t vandalize our clean.
I didn’t know about dead crops , it is good to know !
i was wondering abouth the righteousness , i always thought it helps your neighbour if you vandalize, because they can then clean.
If mine drop while visiting my friends , it goes up very quicky if i go on vandalizing or cleaning. if you come back after mopping one building, most of the time there is still a mop on it (but not always) i was wondering how it is working exactly ?
It seems that when you click on a neighbors Christmas Tree, they lose the money from it until the next cycle. I’ve noticed that my Tree is about to cash, then the my money doesn’t show the next time, but the cycle has restarted. Is that true? Also, when you clean up or mop at a neighbors, do they know you’ve helped them mop? Does it take away the dollars they would have gotten from mopping it themselves? Then when I mop for them, they’ve lost out on the $16 cash and XP from the person who graffitied it, plus they’ve lost out on my $16 and XP if I had tapped another building?
I’ll test all of those out in the next couple of days and let you know
Just today I had the hand shake over my Christmas tree and was able to get the normal money and xp when I tapped it.
Me too, Ed – I was looking for it today
Sorry if I missed the appropriate post, but I recently ran into an issue on Android. As most of you know Android users can’t visit other users Springfields, just the generic “Other” Springfield. I recently reached level 16 on my Springfield and the “Other” Springfield hit level 20. I was able to visit it a few times but now my game crashes every time I try to visit the “Other” Springfield. Anyone else seen that?
Okay – but be very, very patient – send your details through here and I’ll edit out the sensitive bits in comment moderation.
To quote Miss Vicki: “Tappa tappa tappa!”
I have a question, when I started playing the game at Christmas when you tapped through all of your friends Sringfields concurrently you would build XP and cash as you went through. IE: One friend #1 you would get the normal amount but by friend #50 you were earning much more XP and a lot more cash. Was that just for Christmas or was that something they removed in later updates to level the playing field? It was awesome for those of us who were just getting into the game because it helped build levels and cash faster to catch up with some of you long term players.
I think this should answer your question, Lee – http://wp.me/p35pG7-lr
Oh dear, another duplicate ID here. I’m also Lee, but I started the game much early since Halloween, and followed Ismail from FB to tstotips here. I guess the only way now to tell a diff between readers with the same ID is to add an avatar.
Hi Lee – glad you’re here!
Hey man! Another interesting post!
By the way I’m not sure if you noticed this but here’s something I found out!
When you buy new plots/land then you get different rewards when cleaning up the nuclear waste. That includes money, XP and donuts. But then what I realised is thwart even thought I could see some waste on the land, there was no option of ‘Clean Up Springfield’ on homer or lisa. It turns out that it was an item I could move around..it was the burning bush! The premium item!
It was pretty cool that you could wins premium item while cleaning up!
It is cool – and there are three of them!
This graffiti thing is really annoying me. Having read your post I have just learned that graffiting a friend’s building damages your righteousness ? – why??
The whole point of graffiti is that you need to clean it up to earn the righteousness. If not one makes the graffiti then there is nothing to clean up!!
Hi Gordon – yes, and it’s not meant to work that way. I hope things are back to normal soon, but at least it’s not a fatal glitch!
Recently I’ve been able to tap on 4 items in a friends springfield instead of 3 if the last two I tap are to clean graffiti. I’m sure this shouldn’t be the case. Anyone else experienced it?
I was able to get 6 items by tapping 4 mops last.
Depends if my neighbors have all 4 buildings for graffiti I tap n all and collect
I’ve been testing and I can click on four items each time if you can fit three mops or spray cans or a combination plus another building on the same screen and tap really fast.
That’s what seems to be happening at the moment – at least it’s a helpful glitch!
Could you explain what the glitch is? Thanks
Hi Shelley – It seems that when you grafitti your friends’ town, your righteosness rating goes up! Which is really not how it’s worked in the past!
Thanks, maybe that is why I’m getting so much….
Nice to know about the dead crops! I use to harvest crops to avoid dying and thought that it was too late for dead crops.
I had Righteousness-drops like everyone but didn´t see many mops and buckets but a lot of paintbrushes. First I was afraid to use them, but I did and the Righteousness rose directly.
Good to know, thanks
good good
