Whether you play on an iOs device or on Android, everyone sees the same Other Springfield. It was designed by the developers to demonstrate the social aspects of the game and the building possibilities.

But it seems that the developers stopped playing the game! After level 8, then level 12, then level 20, it just stops. Level 20 was where the game finished until September last year, when the game entered a phase of introducing a new level every month. And with 9 levels since then it looks unlikely that there will be another Other Springfield.

I suppose that’s because, by level 20, most players have a good handle on most aspects of the game – and should have a good number of friends. And all players, Android and iOs, now have the opportunity to see town designs that are far more inventive than Other Springfield would probably ever be, so there’s even less of a reason to create a higher level Other Springfield than there was at the beginning of April.

So level 20 is likely to be the highest level Other Springfield we’ll see and there’s nothing in the files to indicate that another one is on the way. Now I’ve said that, though, just watch the developers open up a new one with the next update!

I’ve been meaning to give a plug to TheAppGoddess and her Tapped Out videos for some time – but if you’re looking for some design tips and ideas, as many new players are, they’re certainly a great place to start.

Here’s one of her latest videos showing off her pre-Whacking Day landscaping:

It’s worth noting that this video makes reference to the 3000 building and decoration limit which appeared at the beginning of Whacking Day and was then lifted. I have a feeling that it may be back, though, and was only lifted when someone realized that it also limited eggs drops to friends.

For more ideas, also take a look at the My Neighbor’s Yard series from ObviousObscure. You can find his latest video here.

Fat Tony’s house is one of the larger buildings in Springfield – not as large as Burns Manor, for sure, but large enough for a man of Fat Tony’s status.

Mine is currently sitting on the southern edge of my town where, as soon as I expand my land area, Fat Tony will get an acreage that befits a man of his means (and, yes, the red brick walls are ugly – I’m really looking forward to the Cobblestone Walls that are currently sitting in the files):

I really like the shot-guns that pop up out of the lawn and rotate when there’s someone inside the house!

What have you done? Take a screenshot, upload it to an image site, and post a link in the comments or send it to me on Twitter to @TSTOTips. Or you can just tell us what you’ve done (although a picture is better!). I’m planning an update post later in the week.

This seems to be a day for design ideas (see rcsprinter’s post, here). And now Obvious Obscure has uploaded the fifth episode in his My Neighbor’s Yard series!

This series of videos has proven to be really popular with readers of this blog – and that’s because it gives you so many ideas on how to decorate your town. So, why not sit back and enjoy episode 5, then spend some time redecorating your town (perhaps thinking about the possible opening of the seashore sometime in May/June).

If you missed the other episodes in the series, you see them by following this link: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRlCjoTohneFezCQ16uL69ktwioRISO2i – and if you’re a Minecraft player, there are some other videos on the site that you’ll also enjoy.

Last weekend I asked you to share your screen shots showing what you’ve done with Fat Tony’s Legitimate Businessman’s Club, and you can see some of those here. And here are a few more that came in through Twitter.

If you want to inspire others with your designs, post a link here. And there’s a post coming soon on Fat Tony’s Compound.

It can be quite challenging to make some of your larger buildings look good, and the Duff Stadium is no exception. Here’s what I’ve done with mine:

image
If you’ve won the Duff Stadium, what have you done with yours? Take a screenshot, upload it to an image site and link it here, or just tell us what you’ve done. You can also send it through on Twitter to @TSTOTips.

(P.S.: I’ll be doing an update post on the Businessman’s Club tomorrow!)

A couple of people have asked for some ideas for what to do with the Legitimate Businessman’s Club, which makes it a perfect candidate for a “What have you done with…?” post.

Mine is sitting between Springfield Downs and the Duff Stadium, making it a convenient location for Fat Tony and his gang to monitor two of their major income sources – fixing races and fixing baseball games (although there’s only a task for the first!). It’s next to Lugash’s Gym, to allow for convenient workouts without undue interuption the the business day, and it’s just up the road from Krustylu Studios just in case they want to get involved in the movie business. Both Asia de Cuba and Luigi’s are a short walk away:

What have you done with yours? Send a screenshot through Twitter to @TSTOTips where I’m back to checking in once a day now that the pace of game change has slowed, or upload your screenshot to an image site and post a link in the comments below. And if you can’t do either of those, just tell us all what you’ve done!

Springfield Falls is obviously everyone’s new favorte decoration, as the screenshots just keep coming in. If you haven’t seen the first post on this, take a look here, and especially at the comments on that post, as there are some really great ideas!

I have more than enough for a third post, so if you haven’t seen yours yet, give me time! And you can always upload your screenshot to an image site and post the link in the comments. We’d love to see what you’ve done.

Springfield Falls may only be available to add to your game for a limited time, but it’s now officially my new favorite decoration. (For newer players, you get to keep it after the promotion is over.) But to fit it in where it belongs up in the mountains, I’m going to have to do some redesigning. And that’s going to wait until after the something bigger happens on Thursday US.

For now, my Springfield Falls is sitting just off to the side of Burns Manor, where it’s fed (in my imagination) by an underground spring.

So, how have you placed your Springfield Falls? If you’re a little further along in your re-design, why not share what you’ve done?

To let other readers of this blog see your Springfield Falls, you can take a screenshot and upload it to an image site, then leave a link here. You can also send it to me on Twitter to @TSTOTips (where I promise I’ll be checking in after not being around during a few busy days).

More later today or tomorrow…

The long-awaited fourth episode of My Neighbor’s Yard is finally here!

This series of videos by YouTuber ObviousObscure has proven to be really popular with readers of this blog – and that’s because it gives you so many ideas on how to decorate your town. So, why not sit back and enjoy episode 4, then spend some time redecorating your town.

(thanks to Keithemill for correcting the link)

If you missed the other episodes in the series, you see them by following this link: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRlCjoTohneFezCQ16uL69ktwioRISO2i – and if you’re a Minecraft player, there are some other videos on the site that you’ll also enjoy.

Springfield Downs is really the first of the buildings you unlock in the game that takes a little bit of extra design thinking to get it to fit into your town. It doesn’t seem to fit comfortably onto a block of land, and feels awkwardly shaped compared to all the buildings that come before it. Getting it to fit comfortably takes a bit of creativity – but that’s all part of the game.

So, to help out players looking for ideas on what exactly to do with it, I asked you to send in some screenshots showing how you’ve approached Springfield Downs. But first, here’s mine, which includes some patio tables and a small park in the grounds of the racetrack:

image
And here’s one from Superangel, who included Springfield Downs as one of the places that the plant workers might like to visit after work:

image
And here’s a really interesting one from Adora, who included a walled off area to the side of the track park containing lots of seating space in a really nice 3D design:

So what have you done with your Springfield Downs? Post a link in the comments section below or send it through on Twitter to @TSTOTips and I’ll post it here for you.

A couple of days ago, I asked “What have you done with the Springfield Buddhist Temple?”. Some screenshots came in through the comments on the original post, and also through Twitter. So, here are a few of the Twitter submissions:

If you’ve done something special that you’d like to share, add a link to your screenshot in the comments or send it through Twitter. I’m also looking for inventive Springfield Downs designs for an upcoming post.

Here at last is the eagerly-awaited episode 3 of My Neighbor’s Yard, from ObviousObscure, a regular reader of this blog.

Whether you’re building your town for the first time or rearranging your town for the twentieth, you’ll find some inspiration in this episode. And there’s a great new challenge for you to take part in while you wait for whatever it is that’s coming next in the game.

Enjoy – and please be sure to subscribe to his YouTube channel.
